what is 3S?
3S (Super Sport Systems) is a training design platform built on the Ergometric Training Concept (ETC).
ETC defines training as a structured process that drives adaptation over time.
3S applies this concept in practice—allowing coaches to design, manage, and execute training based on a defined process rather than isolated decisions.
In simple terms:
- ETC explains how training works
- 3S applies this understanding to determine what should be done at each stage of the process
Understanding Sport Training Paradigms
You may be surprised to learn that the number of paradigms defining training decisions is very limited. In fact, there are only two paradigms in modern sport capable of modeling performance—and each is based on very different principles.
The goal of every Paradigm – is to establish a framework on which specific training philosophy operates. That means that every paradigm, by definition, uses it own criteria for explaining training zones, training intensity, and planning decisions (assuming that a Paradigm is capable of combining these elements). The training recommendations under different paradigms, may keep similar format, however, considering criteria and conditions they use, have very different meaning and outcomes.
Evolution of Training Paradigms in Sport
Training theory has evolved through stages—each redefining how performance is understood and managed.
Each stage defines training differently—through structure, physiological response, or measurable change.
3S represents the stage where training is defined as a process.
IMPORTANT NOTION:
Coaches’ daily training plans, decisions, and definitions, are defined by the selected training paradigms. In the absence of understanding of the framework you are operating within, the connections between goals, means, and definitions are typically lost, leading to unpredictable outcomes.
What 3S difference means to you
Super Sport Systems is built on the Ergometric Training Concept (ETC)—one of the very few approaches capable of modeling the entire training process, from initial evaluation and progression analysis to structured performance outcomes.
This approach is fundamentally different from the conventional philosophy that dominates coaching practice today—not because the conventional paradigm is superior, but because the Ergometric Training Concept was largely overlooked.
Let us understand what 3S IS and is NOT
WHAT 3S IS NOT:

- another “training system”
- a “click-and-coach” tool
- an app that generates workouts
- a workout database
What 3S Is:

- It is an alternative way to view and explain how sports training works.
- A different paradigm or training philosophy based on performance management rules.
- A paradigm that starts training from a strategic level, where all tactical decisions (sets, workouts) are treated as elements supporting planned adaptation.
3S defines how training works—and determines what should be done at each stage of the process.
The Common Misconceptions
What 3S Actually Represents
3S is not a method.
It represents a higher-level training paradigm.
One that defines training as a process —not as a collection of sessions.
When the process is defined, training is no longer managed through isolated decisions—but through structured conditions that drive adaptation.
What MAKES 3S Different
3S defines how training elements are connected and transformed over time
Not descriptively. Quantitatively.
IMPORTANT !: Under 3S methodology, workouts are not viewed as decisive element of coaching or the main focus point. Workouts are the means (carefully-calculated stress points) that are necessary to execute at specific time in season to achieve planned result.
Why This Changes Everything
When transitional parameters are defined:
Final Point
3S is not a better training system. It is a different training paradigm.
You can coach or train without a structured and predictive system.
But I would not recommend it if you expect consistent and predictable results.Dr. Sergei Beliaev, Founder of Super Sport Systems
